World Trade Centre Memorial and Museum

On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
Often called 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, including the fall of the twin towers.Over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington,D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.
This is the last steel column to be pulled down from the wreckage left of the twin towers after they had been hit by the two planes.  It has been signed by the surviving fireman, policemen and rescue crews that helped evacuate, find survivors and pulled bodies from the wreckage.  They also put photos of their fallen comrades on the column.
This is the remains of one of the firetrucks that came to peoples' aid.  They lost many of their crew that day when the towers fell.
This is the new Trade Centre that was rebuilt on the site of one of the previous trade centres, on the other site is the water memorial called Reflecting Absence.  The new tower has been renamed "The One World Trade Centre".  I think that this is pretty cool because not only was one of the towers rebuilt meaning new hope for the future it also represents that we are one world together not just lots of different people from lots of different countries.  Drew
